Since March 19th, the day we closed, Santikos has been working on reopening plans and safety protocols for our theaters. We are San Antonio’s only theater chain where 100% of our profits are given back to benefit our community, and we understand there is a lot riding on us reopening and being successful. We do not take these responsibilities lightly. We have been working diligently on safety protocols that will make Santikos a model, not just for theaters, but for all businesses on how to open responsibly. We are continuously evaluating local, state and federal guidelines to assure we remain leaders in providing a safe, clean and fun atmosphere for all. We are confident these daily procedures will provide a safe and enjoyable environment that will allow our community to escape this dreadful reality we’ve been living in. As always, we remain committed to our guests, employees and local community. We owe you the safest, best experience and look forward to seeing you at the movies.
Standard Safety Procedures
These are the standard procedures we are committed to throughout each phase of reopening Santikos theaters.
WASH YOUR HANDS: All team members must properly and frequently wash their hands at a minimum of once every hour. Hands must be washed between each change of gloves. We advise all of our guests to frequently and thoroughly wash their hands while refraining from touching their face.
DISINFECT HIGH-CONTACT SURFACES: High-contact surfaces (door handles, counter tops, faucets, kiosks, railings, etc.) must be wiped down with a medical-grade sanitizing agent at a minimum of once every 30 minutes. We will also maintain nightly deep cleaning of all auditoriums, bathrooms and high-traffic areas.
SAFE SOCIAL-DISTANCING: All team members and guests must practice and maintain appropriate physical distancing as recommended by the CDC and local health authorities.
REMAIN AT HOME IF YOU ARE SICK: All team members will be screened and have to give a verbal disclosure they are not sick and have not been in close contact with anyone experiencing signs of sickness.
WEAR PROPER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: All team members must wear the required protective equipment and adhere to all CDC recommended standards of use of such equipment at all times. Protective equipment will be provided by Santikos at no cost to team members.
FACE COVERINGS: Face masks are currently optional in common areas such as lobby, hallways and restrooms. If social distancing cannot be maintained, we reserve the right to make them mandatory. If made mandatory, they may be removed when eating, drinking or seated for your movie.
CASH EXCHANGE: We are implementing a “Cash Only” line and specifically training team members how to properly handle cash. Cash will only be accepted in exchange for gift cards. The gift card can then be redeemed at concession, bar and other amenities as we reopen. It is exact change only. If you come in with a $50 bill you can only get a $50 gift card. We will not be giving change at all, no exceptions.
Theater Entrance Screening
These questions will be asked of all guests and employees before entering the theater.
Within the past 14 days have you, or anyone you have been in close contact with, experienced any symptoms of illness such as fever, chills, dry cough, shortness of breath or sore throat? (If yes, you will not be allowed in the theater and we will reimburse you your ticket.)
- All guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets through our app or website in order to maintain contactless payment methods.
- Seating arrangements will follow all social distancing protocols. Groups must be at least 6-feet apart, with every-other-row empty. If you come with a family, you may sit together, but respect others and maintain a healthy social distance.
- Seats, armrests, cupholders and tray tables will be properly disinfected between every screening.
- There will not be food servers at this time in order to reduce person to person contact.
- Condiments will only be served upon request and will not be self-served.
- Team members have been trained in proper food-handling protocols in order to reduce person to person contact.
- We are implementing a limited menu to ensure that we are able to maintain the safest possible food-handling environment.
- Safe social distancing stickers have been placed on the ground to ensure that guests are maintaining a healthy distance of at least 6-feet apart while waiting in lines.
- Coca-Cola Freestyle and ICEE machines will be managed by theater staff only. Upon purchasing a drink at the concession stand, you will present your receipt to the employee working the drink station and they will fill your drink for you. No refills will be available in order to reduce contact points, and for that reason, all large soft drinks are at a reduced price of $5.
- Large popcorn will be $5 and no refills will be offered in order to reduce contact points. New buckets may be purchased for $5.
- We will no longer be accepting refillable mugs at our bars due to the safety of our staff and customers. Any previously bought Santikos mugs will no longer be accepted or refilled at the bar.
- The Mezz at Palladium will be closed.
- The Dine-In Auditoriums at Casa Blanca will no longer provide food service.
- Our bars will be open with limited options.
We will only be operating 8 lanes, please no more than 5 guests to a lane.
Attendants will be scheduled to guide and assist guests during experience.
Signage with rules and pricing will be distributed throughout seating area and bowling desk in highly visible locations.
Depending on which venue you attend, we are providing anywhere from 8 to 11 feet of spacing between occupied lanes.
Hand sanitizer is readily available.
Bowling ball racks are closed for guest use. Bowling balls are removed and secured in a separate room. All ball returns will be pre-stocked with two balls of each size (6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 pound) and covered with a plastic cover to preserve the sanitation of equipment.
Attendants, including those working at the bowling desk, will continuously disinfect surfaces in the vicinity of the bowling area such as handrails, tables and other potential contact surfaces, even when the area(s) have already been disinfected. Physical bowling balls/ball returns will remain covered after initial disinfecting process has been performed.
Guests may use the lane service buttons to request a different ball or finger hole size, as well as a different shoe size. An attendant will serve their request.
Handicap/kiddie ball ramps will be removed from lanes and secured in a separate room. Guests may use the lane service buttons to request a ramp.
Managers and/or leads MUST review and approve sanitation and cleanliness (per Cleaning & Sanitation protocol below) before issuing lane to new groups
Guest(s) will purchase game(s)/shoe rental.
Guest(s) will pick up shoes and take them to their lane.
An attendant will guide guest to opened lane.
Before guests are seated, an attendant will go through and explain bowling rules and counter cards
regarding the equipment and the availability of ordering food and beverage for their lane.
An attendant will emphasize to guest(s) that they may press the lane service button if they need assistance with equipment. Prior to departing, the attendant will remove the plastic cover on the ball return and ensure that guests have no further questions or concerns.
All bowling balls and shoes will be left at lane to be sanitized at the completion of game(s).
Cleaning & Sanitation:
Outside of bowling shoe will be sprayed with disinfectant and thoroughly wiped, including contact points on the heel of the shoe. Disinfected shoes will be taken to bowling desk where deodorizer will be sprayed into the shoes.
A damp cloth sprayed with disinfectant will be used to thoroughly wipe down ball surfaces and inside finger holes. Provided tube brush will be sprayed with disinfectant and used in extra small finger holes.
Ball returns will be sprayed with disinfectant and thoroughly wiped from end to end. Plastic cover will be draped over balls/ball return once complete.
Coffee tables and lane seating (seat cushions, seat backs and attached flat surfaces) will be sprayed with disinfectant and thoroughly wiped (including lane service button).
Sync pedestals and tablets and will be sprayed with disinfectant and thoroughly wiped.
Managers and/or leads MUST review and approve sanitation and cleanliness before issuing lane to new groups.
Loyalty accounts are able to be used and points/redemption dollars are accruing. Curbside popcorn purchases will also accrue points. If you are interested in signing up to be a loyalty member, we are encouraging you to sign up online at this time.
Expiration dates on birthday passes issued on or after March 1st are extended 180 days.
Large popcorn, large drinks, 20oz Dasani Water, select candy, Ricos nachos, pizza, and hot dogs
Large popcorns and large drinks have been reduced to $5 each.
We have implemented a "no refill" rule in order to minimize touch points for our guests and employees.
All tickets for all showings are currently $5, no matter the day or time. This is because we are playing previously released films.
We are encouraging guests to purchase tickets on our app or website, however, select kiosks in our theaters are open for purchase. Palladium kiosks are closed, but the box office windows are open. You can also purchase on Fandango.
We are currently only accepting cash for gift cards with exact change.
All 2019 passes will expire December 31st 2020.
