Santikos Announces New Ownership Structure for its Houston Theatres

San Antonio, Texas – Santikos Entertainment today announced that it has entered into an agreement to transfer operations of its two Houston theaters to Regal Cinemas.  Proceeds from the transaction will better enable Santikos to fund its philanthropic mission in San Antonio through the John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation.

Under the terms of the deal, Regal has acquired and will operate the two Houston locations as well as develop an additional Houston property. Simultaneously, Regal will sign long-term leases for the theater buildings, which will continue to be owned by Santikos. The two Houston-area properties will remain open throughout the transition, which will have no impact on Santikos’ San Antonio theaters.

“Today’s announcement reflects an acceleration of Santikos’ commitment to our philanthropic mission in San Antonio,” said Santikos CEO, David Holmes. “This new relationship with Regal will allow us to better align our operational focus with our philanthropic goals for San Antonio.”

Santikos Entertainment will have distributed over $40 million in charitable funding to the San Antonio Area Foundation through the end of 2017. The John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation was established in 2015 at the San Antonio Area Foundation, and since that time, over 200 San Antonio Area organizations have benefitted. (A list of supported organizations is attached.)

“Each visit to a Santikos Theater creates a direct benefit to our community, with all proceeds to benefit the San Antonio Area Foundation.” said Holmes. “That was the vision of John Santikos.”

Peter J. Solomon Company is serving as financial advisor to Santikos.
